What Do You See in an Acorn?

Acorns fall off oak trees by the dozens this time of year, and to some people, acorns look like just a bunch of little balls. But if you look carefully and think about it, there are many wonderful things about the future of an acorn.

Some little boys may see the beginning of a great climbing tree. Once the acorn sprouts, it will grow a little each year, and one day it will be big enough to climb for a great view of the world around the tree. It may even grow big enough and strong enough to hold a tree fort.

To little girls, an acorn may look as if it has a fancy hairdo which is actually a protective cap so the rain runs off the acorn when it is on the tree. As a seed from the oak tree, the acorn may become a tree with strong branches for a big swing.

To grown-ups, an acorn may be the beginning of a tree that can be made into a table or bookcase.

It is fun to imagine what something might become when it grows up, and the amazing thing is that the recipe for a huge oak tree is all inside that little acorn which is just a little bigger than a marble.

But only God knows for sure what the acorn and oak tree will become since we learn from the Bible that He knows the end from the beginning.

Just as God knows everything about the future of the acorn and oak tree, He knows the whole future about you and me. LetÂ’s thank Him for being such a wonderful God and trust Him to guide us to be strong and useful each day.
